KENYA: Bishop Emeritus Linus Okok Dies Aged 68

HOMA BAY, SEPTEMBER 15, 2020(CISA)-Bishop Emeritus of the Catholic Diocese of Homabay Rt. Rev. Linus Okok Okwach is dead.

The news was broken in a September 13 message by Very. Rev Fr. Daniel Rono the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB) General Secretary,

“I write on behalf of the Chairman of KCCB. It is with humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the passing on of Rt. Rev. Linus Okok Okwach, the Bishop Emeritus of the Diocese of Homabay which occurred last night (September 12) at St. Monica Hospital in Kisumu. Bishop Linus has been ailing for some time. Other details will be communicated in due course. Let us pray for the repose of his soul and keep his family, relatives and friends in prayers. Our deepest condolences to the Diocese of Homabay and Archdiocese of Kisumu,” the message read.

Rt. Rev. Linus Okok was the first ordinary of the Catholic Diocese of Homa Bay.

He was born on October 20, 1952 in Ojola, Kisumu County.

He was ordained priest on December 10, 1980 and appointed Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Homabay on October 18 1993.

He was consecrated as Bishop on December 31, 1993 and served as bishop until February 2002.
