KENYA: Bishop Norman King’oo Wambua Installed in Machakos

MACHAKOS AUGUST 28 2018(CISA)– Thousands of faithful flocked Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos on August 25 to witness the installation of Bishop Norman King’oo Wambua as the new Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Machakos.

The installation was led by the Pope’s representative to Kenya and South Sudan, Archbishop Charles Daniel Balvo.

Bishop Wambua becomes the fourth Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Machakos after his transfer from Bungoma Diocese where he was the Bishop for 20 years.

His predecessors include the late Bishop Urbanus Joseph Kioko, Archbishop Emeritus Raphael Ndingi Mwana-a-Nzeki, Archbishop Martin Kivuva Musonde now Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Mombasa.

Until Bishop Wambua’s installation the Catholic Diocese of Machakos was under the Apostolic Administration of Archbishop Anthony Muheria of the Archdiocese of Nyeri.

While thanking Pope Francis for the appointment to Machakos, Bishop King’oo promised to work with the laity and clergy.

Rt. Rev. Joseph Obanyi Sagwe the Bishop of the Catholic Dioces of Kakamega takes over as the Apostolic Administrator of the se of Bungoma.

Political leaders from the region including governors Alfred Mutua of Machakos, Charity Ngilu of Kitui, Kivutha Kibwana of Makueni, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Devolution Cabinet Secretary Eugine Wamalwa, and Deputy President William Ruto graced the event.
