NAIROBI, AUGUST 12, 2022 (CISA) – The body of Rev Fr Moise Mbabaye Tshiyombo, IMC, a Consolata missionary who had gone missing has been found at the City Mortuary Nairobi, Friday, August 12, 2022.

The 42-year-old priest from D.R Congo arrived in Kenya on June 10, 2022, and was learning English at the Consolata Language Center at the Consolata Seminary in Langata, Nairobi.

Fr Tshiyombo’s colleagues realised that he was missing on Tuesday, August 2, 2022.  He had been seen leaving the house on Monday, August 1.

According to Fr Peter Makau, the Regional Superior of the Consolata Missionaries in Kenya/Uganda, enquiries on his whereabouts were made among his fellow Congolese nationals in vain before a missing person’s report was made to the police, the Democratic Republic of Congo Embassy in Nairobi, and run in the social media.

“Yesterday night we got information that there was a body lying at City Mortuary, and we have confirmed that it is him.  A post-mortem has shown that he died of dilated cardiomyopathy (enlarged heart).  The police who took his body to the City Mortuary collected it from a bus stage in Rongai,” Fr Makau told CISA.

“Dear confreres and friends, on behalf of the Superior General, I’m sending you the communication about the demise of Fr. Moise Mbabaye Tshiyombo, Consolata missionary.

In fraternal communion, let us pray for his eternal rest,” reads a communique from Fr Pedro Louro, the Secretary General of the Consolata Missionaries.

Fr Tshiyombo was born October 5, 1980, in Kinshasa (DRC).  He had his temporary profession on November 9, 2007, in Maputo and his Perpetual profession on May 25, 2012, in Kinshasa.

He was ordained Deacon on May 27, 2012, in Masina by S. E. Mons Edouard Kisonga and Priest on December 21, 2012, in Kinshasa by Mons. Laurent Monsengwo Pasinya.  He previously worked in the DRC and Mozambique.
