KENYA: Slain Priest Buried in Machakos

MACHAKOS, NOVEMBER 19, 2019 (CISA) – Fr Michael Maingi Kyengo, who was brutally murdered and buried in a shallow grave in Embu last month, has been buried at the Katoloni cemetery in the Catholic Diocese of Machakos.

Bishop Norman King’oo Wambua of the Catholic diocese of Machakos led faithful, family, friends, men and women religious in the burial Mass that took place on Monday, November 8.

Bishop King’oo described Fr Kyengo as a dedicated servant.

“Condole and console, encourage the family to continue on… this is where our faith and the love we preach will be seen. That we support one another in this very difficult time,” he said.

The body of Fr Kyengo, a priest of the Catholic Diocese of Machakos was found on October 15 buried in a shallow grave on the banks of seasonal river in Makima, Embu County.

Until his death, Fr Kyengo was serving as an assistant parish priest of Thatha Catholic Parish in the Catholic diocese of Machakos. Three suspects Michael Muthinji, Kavivya Mwangangi, and Solomon Mutava have since been charged in connection with the murder of Fr Kyengo.
