NAIROBI FEBRUARY 23, 2016 (CISA) – The Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB) on Friday February 19 had a thanks giving Mass in honour of Pope’s visit and to appreciate all who contributed to the its success.
According a news release sent to CISA, the thanks giving Mass was celebrated by His Eminence John Cardinal Njue, concelebrated by KCCB Chairman Bishop Philip Anyolo, the Vice Chair Bishop John Oballa Owaaa, Bishop Peter Kihara and other priests.
During the event that took place at Daughters of St Pauls’ Chapel in Nairobi, the bishops called upon Kenyans to consistently refer to Pope Francis’ messages during his visit to Kenya and to put his words of wisdom into practice for the benefit of the Country.
Bishop Kihara of the Catholic Diocese of Marsabit in his Homily during the Mass, noted that the Pope’s Visit (November 25-27) blessed Christians and none Christians alike.
“I have heard it from the Muslim brothers in Marsabit whom are the majority that, they were blessed and inspired by the messages of the Pontiff during his visit to Kenya. All felt honoured and uplifted by his reflections and deep homily in simplicity of his style and life,” he said.
Bishop Kihara who was amazed at how the Holy Father at his age diligently followed his tight schedule, prayed to God to bless the Vicar of Christ for his generosity and acceptance to visit Kenya and for the sacrifice that he made during his visit.
Bishop Kihara announced that the Pope’s messages that gave hope and uplifted many Kenyans are now available in booklets and Digital Video Discs (DVD), encouraging the people to access them. In attendance were sisters, members of the Pope’s Visit Steering Committee, KCCB employees, Government officials and Development Partners.
