DODOMA APRIL 19, 2016(CISA) – The Tanzania Episcopal Conference (TEC) is mourning the death of Rt. Rev. Matthias Isuja Joseph, Bishop Emeritus of Dodoma. According to AMECEA news, Bishop Isuja died at St. Gaspar Referral and Teaching Hospital, on April 12.
In his condolence message to Rt Rev. Tarcisius Ngalalekumtwa, president of the Episcopal conference, President Dr John Pombe Magufuli said that he had received with great sadness news of the death of Bishop Isuja.
“Bishop Emeritus Mathias Isuja was a true patriot, the lovely person of the people, who did a great job to build the nation spiritually and physically,” he said adding that “We cannot forget his commitment and contribution to the nation in the provision of education, health and social services especially in the upbringing of the orphans.” Bishop Isuja was born on August 14, 1929.
He was ordained priest of Dodoma on December 24, 1960 and was ordained Bishop on September 17, 1972. He retired as Bishop of Dodoma on January 15, 2005. He will be buried on Wednesday April 20, in Dodoma.
