SAGANA JULY 11, 2017(CISA)-Fr Joseph Waithaka, the Regional Superior of the Consolata Missionaries in Kenya and Uganda has called on novices heading for their theological studies in different countries to be at the forefront in helping struggling local churches.
“We have received a lot from missionaries in Europe and America and now we can share the little we have with the rest of the world. My expectation is that you will be witnesses to the African churches outside there and help local churches wherever they will be because there will be lack of priests and lack of missionaries,” he said.
He was speaking July 8 during the first religious profession of Consolata Missionaries Novices at Consolata Novitiate in Sagana.
Fr Waithaka further hailed the religious profession as a strong indication that there will be continuity of the work of the Consolata missionaries all over the world.
“I am sure this is a sign that there will be a continuity of the work that is being done by the Consolata missionaries in the whole world because we have a big number of missionaries who are old and sick,” he said.
Fr John Mugambi, Novice Master of Sagana Noviciate thanked the parents of the novitiates and Consolata family in general for their roles in helping in the formation of the young novices.
“We are very thankful to every person who has been very fundamental in this process of formation and especially the parents who have been nurturing these eighteen novices to become what they have been today. We are very grateful to the Consolata family for supporting us this year to come up with us to the end of the noviciate,” he said.
He expressed optimism that the values they learnt will help them to be faithful to their religious commitments.
During the religious profession, eighteen novices from Kenya, Uganda, Congo and Mozambique were sent to Brazil, Colombia, South Africa, Argentina and Italy for their theological studies.
