KENYA: Bishop Linus Okok to be Buried on September 22 in Homa Bay

HOMA BAY, SEPTEMBER 18, 2020 (CISA)-The late Bishop Linus Okok OKwach, emeritus of the Catholic diocese of Homa Bay, will be buried on Tuesday September 22 at St Pauls Cathedral in Homa Bay.

According to a three-day funeral program dated September 16 signed by Archbishop Philip Anyolo of the Kisumu Metropolis and Apostolic Administrator of the Catholic Diocese of Homa Bay, the body of the late bishop will be taken to Ojolla Parish for viewing from 1pm on Sunday September 20.

On 21/9/2020 the body will be taken to Uzima University grounds for brief viewing from 8am to 9:30 am.  The requiem Mass will begin at 10am. In the afternoon, the body leaves for St Paul’s Cathedral-Homa Bay where there will be two vigil Masses at 5 pm and 7 pm respectively.

On September 22, the funeral Mass will be held at Homa Bay High School grounds from 10 am.

Rt. Rev. Linus Okok was the first ordinary of the Catholic Diocese of Homa Bay.  He was born on October 20, 1952 in Ojolla, Kisumu County.  He was ordained priest on December 10, 1980 and appointed Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Homa Bay on October 18 1993. He was consecrated as Bishop on December 31, 1993 and served as bishop until February 2002 when he resigned.  He died on September 12 at St. Monica Hospital in Kisumu.
