KENYA: Consolata Shrine Kicks Off Five-month Rosary Marathon in Honour of Our Lady of Fatima

NAIROBI MARCH 7, 2017 (CISA) – Faithful at Consolata Shrine in Westlands Nairobi on March 4 begun a five-month Rosary Marathon in Preparations for the 100th Anniversary of apparition of Our Lady of Fatima.

The marathon is a build up to the 100th Anniversary of apparition of Our Lady of Fatima in May 13, 2017 in Fatima, Portugal.

“One of the conditions for the devotion of the first five Saturdays is attending Mass and receiving Holy Communion and also doing confession,” Ms Stella Njogu, the event organizer told CISA.

“We organize rosary marathons in fulfillment of the request that Our Lady made in Fatima to have the devotion of the Immaculate Heart of Mary on every first Saturday of the month,” Ms Stella Njogu said.

She said that,” adding that “in the petitions they have put the country at heart since the country is heading to the general elections.”

“We shall have a program to commemorate the anniversary here. We intend to screen a movie that will show what happened in Fatima followed by a grand procession. We are giving the celebration a slogan calling it 100 years of a mother’s love,” she said.

Pope Francis is expected to lead the commemorations at Our Lady of Fatima in Portugal.

Pope Francis granted the Shrine of Fatima the right to offer a plenary indulgence to pilgrims during the jubilee year of the centenary of the apparitions of the Virgin Mary, beginning November 26, 2016.

The indulgence may be granted to Catholics who participate in a celebration or a prayer in honor of Our Lady of Fatima in another church where the image of the Virgin is exposed.
