KENYA: Continue work of Missionaries by Supporting the Church, Fr Joya Urges Faithful of Maralal

WAMBA APRIL 12, 2016 (CISA) – Fr Hieronymus Joya, Consolata Missionaries Regional Superior of Kenya and Uganda has called on faithful of Wamba Catholic Parish to carry on the work done by missionaries by supporting the Church.

“It’s up to you to show appreciation for the work the missionaries began, not by words but by helping the Church,” said Fr Joya.
“If family and friends of missionaries were able to form organizations to assist their kin in their missionary work abroad, I think we can do the same and grow our Church and help our children who answer the call to be missionaries,” he added.
Fr Joya was speaking during the interment Mass of the late Fr Franco Cellana at Wamba Catholic Parish in the Catholic Diocese of Maralal on April 10.
“Fr Cellana was able to help you through the assistance and generosity of his family and friends, now it is your turn to help your Church and to work with the bishop to grow the diocese,” stated Fr Joya.
During the ceremony Fr Cellana cremated remains were buried in a memorial site in Wamba Parish – the last place he worked as a missionary – in accordance to his last wishes.
The ceremony was presided over by Bishop Virgilio Pante of the Catholic Diocese of Maralal and it brought together Consolata Missionaries priests and sisters, Fr Cellana’s relatives, his benefactors and faithful from Deep Sea slum, Kahawa West both in Nairobi and Wamba Catholic Parish.
During his homily Bishop Pante said the late Fr Cellana was full of compassion for the poor.
“Everywhere Fr Cellana went he loved helping the needy; when he was in Consolata Shrine in Westlands he helped the poor in the slums and even here in Maralal,” the bishop stated.
