KENYA: Kenyans Attend World Meeting of Families in Philadelphia

NAIROBI SEPTEMBER 25, 2015 (CISA) – A Kenyan delegation of 21 travelled to Philadelphia, US for the World Meeting of Families.

The Delegation that left on September 19 was led by Bishop Salesius Mugambi the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB) Chairman for the Family Life Programme and bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Meru.

Bishop Philip Anyolo, chairman of the KCCB joined the delegation on 24 September.
The meeting that is expected to run up to September 27, has attracted families from around the world who have gathered in Philadelphia to pray, learn and celebrate the gift of the family through planned workshops and panel discussions.

Mrs. Theresa Abuya, Kenya’s National Family Life coordinator, who  is also to attend the meeting, says that the Kenyan team is expected to learn a lot in the four-day meeting themed, ‘Love is our mission: the family fully alive’.

“We are excited about the World meeting of Families since it is an opportunity for us to learn and be able to implement and share the knowledge and experiences of back home. I am also happy that I will meet His Holiness Pope Francis,” she said.

Pope Francis who is already in the US arrived in Philadelphia on Saturday, September 26. While there, the Pope where he joined celebrations at the Festival of Families and presided over the concluding Mass on September 27.
