NIGERIA: National Mission Congress set for October

ABUJA, AUGUST 7, 2015(CISA) – The third National Mission congress of the Church in Nigeria will take place in Abuja, from October 1 to 5 this year.

According to Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria (CBCN), delegates, Archbishops, Bishops, priests, delegations of all the religious congregations in the country and lay faithful, will attend the programme.

The congress will focus on the theme: Together on mission… The Church goes forth.

As per the programme put in place by the organizing committee of the biennial ceremony, the ceremony will begin with an opening Mass on the evening of Friday, October 1, at the Our lady Queen of Nigeria pro-Cathedral, Garki, Area 3, Abuja.

The opening ceremony and exhibition by religious congregations and other activities of the celebration will take place at the Daughters of Divine Love Retreat and Conference Centre (DRACC) Sabon-Lugbe, Abuja.

Other activities which include exhibition by Religious Congregations, enthronement of the Holy Bible, adorations, recitation of the Holy Rosary, other spiritual exercises and presentation of papers will begin immediately after the opening ceremony.

The programme will be rounded up with a closing Mass and release of the resolutions of the celebration at the Holy Family Catholic Church Life Camp on October 2015.

The first Catholic National Mission Congress of Nigeria, organized by the Pontifical Mission Societies, and the National Missionary Council of Nigeria, was held under the auspices of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) at Madonna Renewal Centre, Nkpor, Onitsha Archdiocese from in September 2007.
