S SUDAN: Hundreds Welcome Nuncio Charles Balvo on Pastoral Visit to Torit

TORIT FEBRUARY 26, 2016(CISA) – Hundreds of laity, priests and government officials on February 25 welcomed Archbishop Charles Daniel Balvo on his first pastoral visit to Torit diocese.

The Nuncio says his visit aims at interacting with priests, religious and faithful of the Catholic Diocese of Torit, reported Catholic Radio Network. Speaking during the welcoming ceremony, Imatong State Governor Nartisio Loluke Manir pledged to implement peace in the state.

He said that Torit started the liberation struggle for the independence of South Sudan and was expecting the Nuncio to deliver messages of peace and reconciliation to the people of South Sudan.

“The faithful of the Catholic Diocese of Torit have huge expectations from you to bring peace and reconciliation and on the seat of the Bishop that fell vacant since 2013,” said Governor Manir.

Secretary-General of the Diocese of Torit Fr Joseph Logura announced that the Nuncio would further visit the diocese facilities and pay courtesy call to the Governor.
