VATICAN CITY SEPTEMBER 11, 2015 (CISA) – The Vatican on September 10 confirmed that Pope Francis will make his first apostolic visit to the African continent November 25-30.
“Accepting the invitation issued by the respective Heads of State and the Bishops, His Holiness Francis will make an Apostolic Trip to Kenya from November 25 to 27, Uganda from November 27 to 29, and the Central African Republic from November 29 to 30,” read a statement from the Holy See Press Office.
According to the statement, the program of the trip will be published in due course, reported Zenit.
The Pope first announced his intention to visit Africa during his flight back from his Apostolic Visit to Sri Lanka and the Philippines in January. He again confirmed the visit on June 12, during an address to the World Retreat of Priests in Rome.
“In November, I will be in Africa: first in the Central African Republic and then Uganda,” he said.
The announcement comes as the Pope prepares his first Apostolic Visit to Cuba and the United States later this month.
