ZAMBIA: Church Marks First Anniversary for Bishop Moses Hamungole

LUSAKA, FEBRUARY 4, 2022 (CISA)-Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops (ZCCB) has held a memorial mass for Rt. Rev. Bishop Moses Hamungole. The bishop succumbed to Covid-19 related complications on January 13, 2021.

In his homily during the memorial Mass on Saturday, January 29, ZCCB President Most Rev. Ignatius Chama the President of ZCCB said people should not end at remembering their leaders but imitate their way of lives.

“Our lives transformed by the outcome of their lives should be the words on the tombstones in remembrance of bishop Hamungole which should always tell us that we had leaders,” Archbishop Chama said.

The archbishop of Kasama added that Bishop Moses was a position of unity, therefore to remember him, Christians should be united.

Meanwhile Apostolic Administrator for Monze Diocese Very Rev. Father Francesco Airoldi revealed how deeply Bishop Moses Hamungole influenced people’s lives in ministry and Monze Diocese.

“He was a dedicated servant of God who served God the people of God in different capabilities and responsibilities within universal church and the Bishops’ conference. His love for God and his church was ever evident,” he said, stressing how he championed for Christian faith which he served with humility and dedication.

During the event, he announced that the Cathedral which Bishop Moses Hamungole initiated has reached advanced stage and will officially be opened and consecrated on June 11.
