ITALY, MAY 15 2015(CISA) – On Wednesday May 12, Caritas Internationalis welcomed Caritas South Sudan as its member number 165, during its twentieth General Assembly in Rome, Italy.
According to South Sudan Humanitarian Coordinator Joseph Pasquale, Caritas Internationalis 136 delegates from the world unanimously voted in South Sudan Catholic Church charity organization as its full member.
According to CRN Caritas South Sudan represented by its President Bishop Erkolano Lodu Tombe and Executive Director Gabriel Yai on Thursday participated for the first time in voting in a new Caritas Internationlis President.
Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle of the Catholic Archdiocese of Manila, Philippines was elected new president of Caritas Internationalis.
Alexander Bodmann from Austria was also elected as the new Caritas Internationalis Treasurer.
The Caritas Internationalis 20th General Assembly runs until the May 17.
