S SUDAN: Ban Ki Moon Urges Leaders to Put Peace above Politics

JUBA FEBRUARY 26, 2016(CISA) – UN Secretary-General Ban Ki Moon has urged South Sudanese leaders to put peace above politics to implement the 2015 Peace Agreement without further delays.

“Respecting the terms of the agreement is a must, not an option,” said Ban Ki-moon when he concluded his one-day visit to the country on February 25.

He further urged the leaders to overcome their differences to pave way for the formation of the transitional government of National Unity, reported Radio Bakhita.

The UN chief further announced a donation of USD 21 million for South Sudan to help in protection of civilians and the implementation of the peace deal.

He urged the international community to continue supporting the people of South Sudan. Ki-Moon later met President Salva Kiir and representatives of internally displaced persons in Juba.
