KUMASI NOVEMBER 11 2016(CISA) – Archbishop Peter Kwasi Sarpong, Emeritus of the Catholic Archdiocese of Kumasi has appealed to stakeholders to ensure the forthcoming General Elections are credible and peaceful.
“Although it is the responsibility of the electoral commission to organize and supervise the election, lack of support and collaboration from all the stakeholders and the citizens would affect a smooth running and organization of a peaceful election. It’s therefore important that everyone plays part to the latter,” said Archbishop Kwasi.
He urged Ghanaians, reported Ghana’s Graphic Online, to critically examine the policies of the political parties, their manifestos and select those who were ready to serve to improve the lives of the people.
The Archbishop Emeritus further called for the selection of leaders “who would not plunder the nation or bring unnecessary hardships on the people.”
“You need to be aware of politicians who come to the electorate with empty promises and empty slogans with the motive of winning the election but doing nothing else to develop the nation,” warned the prelate.
The Emeritus Archbishop was speaking today during the 7th graduation and 9th matriculation of the Spiritan University College at Ejisu in the Ejisu-Juaben Municipality in the Ashanti Region.
He further reminded Ghanaians to vote for people because of their good character and not because they belonged to a particular tribe or religion or same political party but should be able to make Ghana a better place to live in.
Ghanaians will be going to the polls on December 7, 2016 with six candidates vying for the presidency post Ghana including the incumbent John Dramani Mahama of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).
