MURANG’A, JULY 24, 2020 (CISA)-The Catholic Diocese of Murang’a has commissioned an ultra-modern out-patient block at Kiriaini Mission Hospital.
The new block was launched by Cabinet Secretary for Health, Mutahi Kagwe on July 17 and blessed by Bishop Joseph Mbatia, of the Catholic Diocese of Nyahururu and Chairman of the Catholic Health Commission of the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB).
“Kiriaini Mission Hospital remains committed to providing holistic preventive and curative medical services to all with special concern to the poor and less advantaged in the spirit of proclamation of Christ’s healing ministry,” Rt. Rev. James Maria Wainaina Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Murang’a said.
Bishop Wainaina stressed that it is the mandate as the Catholic Church to take up the work of Christ as he has shown us in his ministry.
While acknowledging the contributions of the Catholic Church to providing Health Care services across the country CS Kagwe said he is confident that the facility will radically improve the quality of service and infrastructure for both patients and staff.
“We are witnessing an improvement in service delivery to the local community in the immediate future and years to come to ensure efficient, reachable and faster service delivery,” he said noting that it is in line with President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Big 4 agenda on Health.
Kagwe noted that the facility was a leading health care provider for locals in the area quoting 63,772 general out-patients were served at the hospital in 2019.
Kiriaini Mission Hospital is owned and managed by the Catholic Diocese of Murang’a, and situated in Mathioya sub-County.
It was started by the Consolata sisters in 1955 as a small dispensary then developed to a maternity wing and later to a general hospital with a capacity of 72 beds.
