DORUMA-DUNGU, OCTOBER 25,2022 (CISA)- Pope Francis has appointed Rev Msgr Emile Mushosho Matabaro, a priest of the Catholic Archdiocese of Bukavu and currently the apostolic administrator of the Catholic Diocese of Doruma-Dungu, as bishop of the same diocese, the Holy See Press Office announced on October 24.
Fr Emile Mushosho Matabaro was born on March 5, 1967, in Bukavu. He attended the preparatory Seminary of Mugeri-Katana, Bishop Busimba Major Seminary of Goma, and St. Pie X Major Seminar Murhesa.
He was ordained a priest on September 17, 2000, for the Catholic Archdiocese of Bukavu. From 2007 to 2012, he studied for a licentiate in theology, and from 2013 to 2017, a doctorate in theology at the Universidad San Dámaso (UESD) in Madrid.
Fr Matabaro has held the following offices since being ordained a priest: “parish vicar and parish priest in Ciherano (2000-2003); parish priest of Saint Pierre in Cibimbi (2003-2007) and of the parish of Bagira (2011); director of the diocesan Office for Social Works and Development (2011-2012); president of the Union of Diocesan Clergy (2011-2013); bursar and moderator of the diocesan Commission for Assets (2017-2018); episcopal vicar, chargé for economic affairs and chancellor (2018-2019); vicar general of the Archdiocese of Bukavu (2019-2021).”
On July 12, 2021, at the disposition of the Holy See, he was appointed as the apostolic administrator of the Catholic Diocese of Doruma-Dungu.
