IFO, FEBRUARY 16, 2016(CISA)-Bishop Peter Kayode Odetoyinbo of the Catholic Diocese of Abeokuta has urged President Muhammadu Buhari’s government not to allow war on anti-corruption be lopsided.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of a three day pastoral visit to St. Mary’s Catholic Parish, Alaja, Ifo in Ogun State, February 14, Odetoyinbo said, “The anti-corruption crusade by the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari is a right step in the right direction. It is good and I am happy that he is bringing out what everybody has been crying for.”
“I am also happy that Nigerians are responding. He is opening the eyes of everyone in this country, doing what he is known for which is discipline with integrity. It is encouraging as all Nigerians; both in public and private sector are now called to order,” Nigeria’s Vanguard Newspaper reported.
During the same event, Bishop Odetoyinbo also declared the Church’s upcoming annual business retreat tagged, “Corruption: A threat to people’s faith in God.”
He however noted that the President should ensure that it involves the church ideals in the war on corruption.
“I urge President Buhari to inculcate among other things, Christian ideals in his anti-corruption crusade which include, change for compassion, and a change that reflect a better Christian to serve God and the world that would not be perceived with prejudice,” said Bishop Odetoyinbo.
