KISUMU, JANUARY 8, 2019 (CISA)-Bishop Philip Arnold Subira Anyolo, the outgoing bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Homa Bay is set to be installed the new Archbishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Kisumu on Saturday January 12.
The installation ceremony will take place at Uzima University College grounds, an event expected to be graced by all Catholic Bishops in Kenya and thousands of catholic faithful.
“We had requested the Holy See to give us more time to prepare for the occasion to take place in February but it was decided that it must be done on Saturday 12,” said Fr Moses Omollo Vicar General of the Catholic Archdiocese of Kisumu during Mass at St Theresa’s Cathedral Catholic Church in Kibuye on Sunday January 6.
Bishop Anyolo will succeed Archbishop Zacchaeus Okoth who is retiring having served the Archdiocese of Kisumu for 40 years.
Prior to the installation Bishop Anyolo will conduct Mass at Homa Bay Cathedral on Friday, January 11 at 12:30pm before he is driven to Nyakwere, on the Homa Bay-Kisumu border where he will be handed over to Kisumu Archdiocese by the clergy and faithful.
Pope Francis appointed Bishop Anyolo as the Archbishop of Kisumu on November 15.
