NAIROBI, MAY 22, 2020 (CISA)-The Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB) is seeking to collect at least 10,000 online signatures to compel the Government of Kenya to pull out from the Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) commitment.
The campaign which is carried out in partnership with Family Watch International, a United Nations affiliated organization, aims to gather atleast 10,000 signatures against CSE in the country’s education curriculum.
The online campaign https://bit.ly/3cWFIlf requires the user to fill in their names and a valid email address in order to support of the campaign.
“The Church and other stakeholders in education have tried in vain to object the introduction of Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE),” the bishop’s conference said in a Facebook post of May 22, 2020 appealing to the public to join the campaign to meet the targeted signatures.
“The future of our children through Value Based Education should be our business and our Concern,” the post said.
The Kenyan government signed a declaration in 2013 in which it committed to scale up comprehensive rights-based sexuality education beginning in primary schools.
In January 2019, Citizen Go, a Non-Governmental Organization, presented a petition to the Ministry of Education seeking to stop the roll-out of the curriculum.
