CISA

MOSHI, OCTOBER 18, 2022 (CISA) – Rt Rev Patrick Joseph McKinney, bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Nottingham, and patron of Inter Care- Medical Aid for Africa is on an 11-day visit to Moshi, Tanzania, to assess the needs of the healthcare units supported by the Syston based charity organization.

“We are really looking forward to visiting our partners in the country to assess their needs. It is vital to gain insight on the challenges that are faced by people in Africa who are unable to access vital medical resources,” Inter Care announced on October 11.

In the announcement, the charity organization also said that Bishop McKinney will be accompanied by Inter Care’s Fundraiser, Claudia Coxon and two trustees on the Tanzania trip.

“I feel privileged to be able to gain experience in Africa and see the work we do first-hand. It is going to be wonderful to be on this journey and have the opportunity to speak with the local communities. I will, sensitively, gather their stories to bring back to share with our supporters,” said Claudia Coxon.

According to the diocese of Nottingham, the 11-day trip will also allow Bishop McKinney to meet with his counterpart Bishop Ludovick Joseph Minde, ALCP/OSS, the local ordinary of the Catholic Diocese of Moshi, in whose episcopal jurisdiction most of the charity work of the organization is carried out.

The UK-based prelate has been the patron of Inter Care since 2015. The organization established in 1974, sends high-quality medical aid along with healthcare goods such as dressings and instruments to rural health units in some of the poorest parts of sub-Saharan Africa.

According to Inter Care, the organization supports around 130 health units with medical aid serving a collective population of over 11 million in six African countries.
