ETHIOPIA: Delegates Arrive in Addis Ababa for 19th AMECEA Plenary Assembly

ADDIS ABABA, JULY 13, 2018 (CISA) – Delegates and partners of the 19th AMECEA Plenary Assembly have started arriving in Addis Ababa Ethiopia, with the first group having arrived on Monday July 9, 2018.

The first group included AMECEA Secretariat Management team and two administrative Secretaries who are in the country to liaise with the Ethiopian Catholic Secretariat (ECS) Preparatory Committee for final bits of the preparations including the hosting of the AMECEA Executive Delegates who arrived Thursday July 12.

The third group to arrive is the Bishop delegates who are set to arrive today July 13, a day before their recollection on July 14.

The last group of delegates is expected to arrive on Saturday July 14, a day before the official opening of the Plenary Assembly.

According to AMECEA Online News, the meeting is set to officially open on Sunday July 15, with Mass at the Ethiopian Millennium hall.

The plenary assembly meeting will take place at the UN Economic Commission for Africa. It will run under the theme, “Vibrant Diversity, Equal Dignity, peaceful unity in God in the AMECEA region.

Those expected to be  in attendance include all the patrons of AMECEA, representatives from USCCB, Missio Aachen, Missio Munich, CAMECO, Church-in-Need, CAFOD, Miserior, Porticus Africa, Healey Foundation, CRS, International Medical Missionary Skills, Prefect of the Congregation of the Catholic Education, Congregation of the Propagation of Faith, Dicastery on Promotion of Integral Human development, Prefect for the Congregation for Oriental Churches, Italian Bishops Conference, President for the Commission for Interreligious Dialogue, Radio Vatican, SECAM and Bishops Conferences of Rwanda, Burundi, DRC and IMBISA.
