KENYA: Bishop Ravasi to Be Buried on Friday in Marsabit

NAIROBI, NOVEMBER 3, 2020 (CISA)-The late Bishop Ambrogio Ravasi, IMC Emeritus of the Catholic Diocese of Marsabit will be buried on Friday, November 6 in Marsabit.

“Friday the 6th November is the date of the burial of the late Bishop Emeritus Ambrose Ravasi. Mass at 10.00a in Maria Consolata Cathedral, Marsabit. Thereafter followed by burial at Maria Mfariji Shrine, Marsabit,” Fr Abba Racho Ibrahim, the Vicar General and Diocesan Communications Coordinator of the Catholic Diocese of Marsabit said in a statement.

Prior to his burial, faithful will congregate tomorrow Wednesday, November 4 at Consolata Shrine Westlands for requiem Mass to be presided over by Bishop Peter Kihara, IMC. Thereafter will follow public viewing at the same venue.

On Thursday November 5 the cottage will leave for Marsabit to be followed by Vigil Masses at the Cathedral of Our Lady Consolata beginning at 2.00 pm.

Funeral Mass will be held at the Cathedral. Bishop Ravasi will be buried at Maria Mfariji Shrine according to his wish.

Bishop Ravasi has been eulogized as “a good missionary who has been a pastor to many especially the nomadic communities in the Northern Kenya.”

“He will be remembered for his humility, heroic virtues, apostolic zeal, cheerful character, strong personality and selfless dedication to the less fortunate of the society,” reads an obituary published by the Consolata Missionaries.

Bishop Ravasi died on October 30 aged 91.
