TOGO: Bishops Discuss Progress of National Synod in Second Ordinary Assembly

LOMÉ, JUNE 17, 2022 (CISA)- The Episcopal Conference of Togo (CET) meeting in Lomé from June 14 to 17, for the Second Ordinary Session for the year 2022, will receive in audience the National Synodal Consultation Team and Rectors of Major Seminaries for the 2021-2022 academic reports.

“In addition to the priority audiences for the Rectors of Major Seminaries for the academic reports of the year 2021-2022, the bishops will receive other people and groups of people. The National Synodal Consultation Team, among others, is expected there for the presentation of the synthesis of the work of the diocesan phase of the process,” read an announcement by Fr Emile Segbedji, Secretary-General of CET.

Fr Segbedji also disclosed “The Bishops will review pastoral issues, as well as relevant current issues, such as violent extremism,” and “also have on the program the study and adoption of documents submitted to them. Other subjects concerning Catholic Teaching, the Episcopal Councils, the Ratio Nationalis will be examined among others.”

The CET also said the sub-regional assembly of the Eighth Congress of the Regional Union of West African Priests (URPAO), which is also meeting in Lomé from June 12 to 18, and whose activities coincide with those of CET “will know various moments of interventions and exchanges between the bishops and the congress priests.”
