ABUJA, JUNE 02, 2015 (CISA) – Archbishop Ignatius Ayau Kaigama, of the archdiocese of Jos and President of the Episcopal Conference of Nigeria has asked the faithful to pray for the recently elected President Buhari.
The archbishop was speaking during a Mass at the formation of St Michael’s Pastoral Area Pwomol-Heipang to the status of a parish.
He said that President Buhari meant that he would not be a sectional leader when he stated that he belonged to everybody and belonged to nobody.
“This is quite positive and we should pray for him to actualise his vision for this country, “he said.
Buhari was elected president of Nigeria on May 29, after defeating the outgoing Head of State, Goodluck Jonathan.
President of the Episcopal Conference of Nigeria also thanked Goodluck for accepting the results and recognizing the victory of the opponent.
“Nigeria would not be enjoying the peace that is currently being experienced, if the outcome of the vote had been contested,” he added.
Archbishop Ayau Kaigama stated that the country was in a situation of relative calmness apart from the northeast areas that had been devastated by the rebellion of Boko Haram.
