NAIROBI NOVEMBER 10, 2015 (CISA) – The Kenya Certificate of Primary Education Examinations (KCPE) began today with the over 900,000 candidates sitting for the national exams.
The Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) Chief Executive Officer, Joseph Kivilu on Monday November 9 said the exams will take place in 24,278 examination centers and the examination papers had already been sent to distribution centers.
Kivilu dispelled fears of irregularities in the KCPE examinations saying the council has improved the security to minimize cases of cheating. The new measures include thoroughly frisking pupils before they are admitted into the examination rooms.
The council has also announced stringent measures against teachers and invigilators who perpetuate exam cheating including unspecified punishment and cancellation of their allowances.
On the first day of the exams, the candidates began with mathematics paper, English language and composition tests.
They will write their Science, Kiswahili lugha and Insha papers on Wednesday November 11 and finish with social and religious studies on Thursday November 12.
The exams will conclude on Thursday November 12.
