KUMASI MAY 17, 2016(CISA)- Archbishop Gabriel Yaw Justice Anokye of the Catholic Archdiocese of Kumasi on May 16 launched the first-ever Catholic Talented Youth programme in Ghana.
The programme was launched at the Holy Family Catholic church at Ash Town, a suburb of Kumasi and targets youth aged 7 to 12 years, and 13 to 19 years.
Speaking during the inauguration, the bishop said the move would offer the youth necessary support and encouragement in “ helping them unearth their God-given talents, and pursue them to the highest level of education.”
He challenged parents and guardians to be more sensitive and show keen interests in the development of the talents of their wards.
Archbishop Anokye further encouraged the youth to show interest by being involved in the activities offered in the youth programme.
“The youth should be ready to join the programme in order to nurture their God-given talent to enable them pursue it in helping the socio-economic growth of the country and their individual families,” said the Archbishop.
The programme under the theme: “Raising Godly Talent” will offer different activities, including recitals, instrumentals, choreography, preaching, singing among others.
Speaking during the function, Chairman of the youth programme, Mr Augustine Badu told Ghana’s The Chronicle Newspaper that Kumasi Archdiocese had been divided into four groups of Offinso, Amakom, Akropong and New-Tafo to compete in the programme in identifying talents at their youthful ages.
