NAIROBI, APRIL 9, 2019 (CISA)– “We as the Catholic University together with the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB) are planning that we should hand you a Masters scholarship,” Prof. Stephen Mbugua, the Vice Chancellor of the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA) told Brother Peter Mokaya Tabichi, winner of the 2019 Varkey Foundation Global Teacher Award.
The Vice Chancellor was speaking today during the opening of the Catholic Private Educational Institutions Association (CaPEIA-Kenya) Conference where Brother Tabichi was recognized, and celebrated.
“The presence of Brother Peter Tabichi has continued to evidence the quality of Catholic teachers and we take this day to take a great pride in you …education should be value and outcome based, and teachers should teach in the spirit of Brother Peter for outcome of students and for the support of their holistic growth,” Fr Mbugua said.
Brother Tabichi in his address called on the teachers present to inspire the young people in society in order to deal with the many challenges in education.
“Winning the global teachers award proves that we have the potential despite the many challenges we face,” he said.
Brother Tabichi received books from Moran and Longhorn Publishers for his school, Keriko Mixed Day Secondary School that is located in the Catholic Diocese of Nakuru.
