MERU, JUNE 11, 2019 (CISA)– Fr Eutychus Murangiri who was murdered on Tuesday, June 4 has been buried at Mujwa Catholic Cemetery in the Catholic Diocese of Meru.
“…taking to account how he was killed, we must always be prepared to go meet the Lord,” said Bishop Salesius Mugambi of Meru said in his homily at the burial Mass that took place on Monday, June 10, at Mujwa Catholic Church.
Fr Murangiri died June 4 at Makutano shopping center in Meru after being stabbed by unknown assailants.
“He was a social and understanding man who could socialize with every group. He was a very jovial man who could make everyone happy. In the seminary life, he was loved by everyone due to his entertaining character,” read part of Fr Murangiri’s eulogy.
A priest called upon the public not to condemn the priest saying, “…in our daily life when he is not wearing these things of the altar, who is that priest who will just come to your home, meet in the market? He is human. Do not actually condemn him. Just like you and me, he is human.”
Two suspects linked to the murder have been arrested and being held by the police in Meru as investigations into the case continues.
Fr Murangiri was ordained a priest of the Catholic Diocese of Meru on June 6, 2018.
