NAIROBI, AUGUST 6, 2019 (CISA) – Fr Makau Peter Munguti has been sworn in as the new Regional Superior of the Consolata Missionaries in Kenya/Uganda. He takes over from Fr Joseph Waithaka who has been in the office for the last three years.
He took the oath of office alongside his deputy, Fr Kariuki Zachary, and other members of the regional council: Fr Ochieng’ Peter Ndelo, Fr Musito Joseph Wabuoba, and Fr Cantore Ottone.
The oath of office was administered August 4 at the Consolata Regional house in Westlands, Nairobi in the presence of Fr Stefano Camerlengo, the Superior General of the Consolata Missionaries, Fr Geoffrey Msumange the continental counselor for Africa, outgoing Regional Superior Kenya/Uganda Fr Joseph Waithaka, his vice Fr Mathew Magak, members of the outgoing council, and several priests of the institution.
In his speech Fr Waithaka congratulated the new office bearers and expressed gratitude to the members of the Kenya/Uganda region for entrusting his council with leadership for the last three years.
“…in a special way I wish to thank the outgoing council… We thank you members of the Kenya/Uganda region for accepting us as we are with our virtues and shortcomings… With your support and our willingness we will do our level best,” said Fr Makau in his speech.
The signing of the oath was witnessed by Fr Stephen Okello and Fr Simon Wambua. Fr Makau previously worked as the Regional Superior of the Consolata Missionaries in Venezuela. He comes from Masii Parish in the Catholic Diocese of Machakos.
