VATICAN, MAY 5, 2020(CISA)-Pope Francis has appointed the Rev. Henryk Mieczyslaw Jagodzinski, the Apostolic Nuncio to Ghana.
“Pope Francis has today (May 3) appointed His Excellency Monsignor Henryk Mieczyslaw Jagodzinski, Titular Archbishop elect of Limosano as Apostolic Nuncio(Ambassador to the Holy See) to Ghana. He replaces His Excellency Archbishop Jean Marie Speich and is the ninth Nuncio to Ghana,” reads a May 3 press release issued by the Charge De affairs at the Apostolic Nunciatre in Ghana, Rev.Monsignor PavolTalapka.
Monsignor Jagodzinki takes over from Most Rev. Jean Marie Speich, the immediate former Nuncio to Ghana who is currently reassigned to Cosovo.
He was born on January 1, 1969 ordained a priest of the Diocese of Kielce in Poland on June 3, 1995 by Bishop Kazimierz Ryczan.
Monsignor Jagodzinki did parish work in Busko-Zdrój for two years and then studied in Rome, earning a doctorate in canon law at the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross. He also studied at the Vatican training institute for diplomats, the Pontifical Ecclesiastical Academy.
He entered the diplomatic service of the Holy See on July 1, 2001.
His earlier assignments included stints in the offices representing the Holy See in Belarus from 2001-2005, Croatia from 2005 -2008, in the Section for Relations with States of the Secretariat of State in Rome, and in India from 2015- 2018, and Bosnia and Herzegovina from 2018 -2020.
