LUSAKA, SEPTEMBER 21, 2021 (CISA) –“We are running out of time to avert the worst effects of the ecological crisis and the climate emergency,” exclaimed Fr Francis Mukosa, the Secretary General of Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops (ZCCB), in his 2021 Season of Creation Message.
In a video posted on ZCCB’s Facebook page on September 17, Fr Mukosa called on the faithful in Zambia to join the global Christian community in celebrating this year’s Season of Creation through prayers and reflections.
“It is imperative that each one of us takes it upon himself or herself to pray, to change our mindset and behaviours and to embark on concrete actions in order to make this world a better and safer home for everyone,” rallied Fr Mukosa.
“This means that in all our communities and all our endeavours we are expected to pause, reflect and pray to God to give us the gift of discernment to understand whether we are really building a home for all,” he adds.
The Secretary General of ZCCB also urged every individual to train their focus towards setting in motion a process of ecological conversion.
“We are encouraged to question the way we live and to turn towards lifestyles that are simpler and more respectful of the environment,” appealed Fr Mukosa.
The 2021 Season of Creation unites all Christians around the theme, “A home for all? Renewing the Oikos of God.” Pope Francis describes that the Season of Creation is a “season of increased prayer and effort on behalf of our common home.”
