NAIROBI, JUNE 4, 2025 (CISA) – Very Rev. Fr Zachary Kariuki, IMC, has officially elected the Regional Superior of the Consolata Missionaries Kenya/Uganda Region for the next three years.
In an election held today across all regional zones of the Consolata Missionaries in Kenya and Uganda, Fr Kariuki was confirmed as the substantive Regional Superior. He has faithfully served in the role for the past year , following the appointment of the former Regional Superior Rt Rev. Peter Makau Munguti as Bishop of Isiolo on May 4, 2024.
Joining him in leadership is Very Rev. Fr Evans Mochama, the parish priest of St. Joseph Mukasa Catholic Parish, Kahawa West, who has been elected Vice Regional Superior. Also elected to the new Regional Council are:
- Very Rev. Fr Joseph Oguok, IMC, Episcopal Vicar for Religious in the Catholic Archdiocese of Kisumu – 3rd Councilor
- Fr Kizito Mulakazi, IMC, parish priest of Buto Parish, Uganda – 4th Councilor
- Very Rev. Fr Marino Gemma, IMC, Rector of Resurrection Garden, Nairobi – 5th Councilor
In a heartfelt message of gratitude, Fr Kariuki thanked his confreres for their trust and unity during the election process:
“Dear Confreres,
On behalf of the election team and the outgoing council, we wish to thank you most sincerely for your active participation and patience in this year’s Regional election.
Thank you a lot for your collaboration and, as Jesus in today’s Gospel prayed, ‘May we be one as the Father and the Son are one’. May the spirit of our Founder continue to guide us as we work together as a family under the maternal care of Our Lady Consolata.”
