KERICHO, FEBRUARY 18, 2020 (CISA)-Political leaders present at the February 15 installation of Bishop Alfred Rotich as the new bishop of the Catholic diocese of Kericho have called on the bishops to pray for them, guide and rebuke them when they lead contrary to God’s will.
“We are the sheep of your flock .We will submit to your authority as bishop as we submit to the authority of Christ…We are requesting that you continue to pray for our country, so that those of us who are privileged to be leaders, will not lead according to our will but according to the will of God, and as you pray for us, correct us also. If there are issues that are not going right, we ask for your rebuke, so that we can truly serve God,” said deputy president Hon.Willian Ruto in his address.
“We recognize your friendship, partnership and the work that you do to advance development in various sectors in schools, hospitals, peace initiatives in the country and we want to assure you, that the government of Kenya will continue to partner majorly with the Church in advancing our nation. You have our commitment that we will continue to work with you in matters of development, of peace, of unity of our nation. We will continue to be obedient to the Church,” he added.
Senator for Elgeyo Marakwet County Hon. Kipchumba Murkomen urged the Church to exercise their mandate as the voice of reason even in political matters.
“We are asking the Church to be the voice of reason that it always has been, to guide the country to follow the right path that will lead to heaven,” he said.
“We all need prayers as a nation, and I want to assure the Church that we have confidence in you, and that is why we are here today…Let us work together to bring peace and stability in our nation,” said Former Deputy prime minister Hon. Musalia Mudavadi.
