KURON, DECEMBER 11, 2020 (CISA)-Bishop Paride Taban Abraham Kenyi, emeritus of the Catholic diocese of Torit, has acknowledged support directed to the country and its people in mitigating humanitarian crisis that occurred during the year.
“We thank those who have been struggling till now to support our people and our country from hunger, diseases, economic difficulties, displacement and especially during this time of the COVID-19 pandemic and during the horrific floods,” he said in his Christmas and New Year message.
Bishop Taban who is also the founder Holy Trinity Peace Village, Kuron applauded the contribution of partners for journeying with them in 2020 terming it, “one of the most challenging years in our times that globally humanity will live to remember.”
“We wish to thank you for your material and moral support in our struggle to realise our vision for Holy Trinity Peace Village Kuron,” he said noting that, “It is your support that enabled us to navigate through the storms of Covid-19, the flood of September 2020 and the successful implementation of our programs planned for 2020.”
“Oh God, you love us in South Sudan so much, you feed us just as you feed the birds of the air. Many of us are alive not because of what we have, but because of you. Give us your grace to repent for all the injuries that we inflicted on one another,” Bishop Taban prayed urging people of South Sudan to forgive and forget the past and embrace one another towards bringing lasting peace with justice.
Bishop Taban also remembered Dr John Garang de Mabior and Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLA/M) who championed for the liberation and struggles for the country’s impendence from 1983 to 2005 lauding them for having sacrificed their lives in the struggle for independence.
His Christmas message was addressed to President Salva Kiir Mayardit, H.E Dr Riek Machar, All political parties, All Peace Makers and His Holiness Pope Francis, Catholic Bishops, All other Religious Leaders, All Diplomatic Corps, All friends and Sudanese/South Sudanese.
