NAIROBI, SEPTEMBER 5, 2023 (CISA)– “Transformative holistic formation for authentic living towards a deeper evangelization in the ACWECA region and beyond’ will guide the 2024 Golden Jubilee plenary scheduled for August 2024 in Malawi.
According to a report by Vatican News, while confirming plans and updates for the Association of Consecrated Women in Eastern and Central Africa (ACWECA) golden jubilee plenary, ACWECA President Sr Rosalia Sakayombo said the theme was chosen during a recent meeting in Uganda.
“The Plenary Assembly will be held in Lilongwe, the capital of Malawi, in 2024. This will be a two-tier celebration as ACWECA will be marking 50 years since its inception,” said Sr Sakayombo.
“We, therefore, invite each other, especially as Chairpersons and Secretaries General of the National Associations, to take back the message to our national Conferences and beyond and put the associations in the mood for prayer and intensive preparations for this great event in our region,” said Sr Sakayombo.
Founded in 1974, ACWECA comprises religious sister associations from 10 countries: Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia. Zimbabwe is an associate member.
