KENYA: Bishop Paul Kariuki Received at Kola Ahead of Installation in Wote

WOTE, SEPTEMBER 29, 2023 (CISA)- Rt. Rev. Paul Kariuki Njiru, bishop-elect of the new Catholic Diocese of Wote has been received today, September 29, at Kola Catholic Parish, the border between Machakos and Makueni counties ahead of his installation as first bishop of the newly erected Catholic Diocese of Wote.

The new bishop was accompanied by Bishop Norman King’oo Wambua of Machakos and was received by Priests, religious men and women and hundreds of Catholic faithful led by Makueni County Governor, Hon. Mutula Kilonzo and Machakos County Deputy Governor, Hon. Francis Kilonzo.

Ahead of his reception in Wote, the bishop-elect was received in the Catholic Diocese of Machakos on September 28 by Bishop King’oo.

The new Catholic Diocese of Wote was excised from the diocese of Machakos making it a suffragan of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Nairobi. It has an estimated size of 8,009 square kilometres and a population of 987,653 of which 388,946 are Catholic faithful. It also consists have 31 Parishes, 90 Diocesan Priests and nine Religious Priests.
