KENYA: Church Gifts President Uhuru Statue of Virgin Mary

NAIROBI, JANUARY 18, 2019 (CISA)-Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic parish on January 13 gifted President Uhuru Kenyatta with a statue of our lady for his protection.

“Your Excellency this church is under the patronage of our Lady of the Rosary and we want you to be under the protection of our mother. With our mother on your side you will always be safe,” the Master of ceremony said as His Eminence John Cardinal Njue, blessed the statue.

This was during Mass for the official inauguration of Our Lady of the Rosary, Ridgeways into a full-fledged parish on Sunday January 13.

On the occasion, the president called on Kenyans to work together in achieving sustainable peace in the country.

“The most important thing is peace and unity, peace and unity in the family, in our communities and in the country,” he said.

“We all know, that if we pull together in that direction, there is nothing that we cannot achieve, and achieve we shall, because we are committed to bringing our people together to learn to respect each other, to learn to live with one another, because this is surely the only way we can drive our development agenda in this country,” he added.

“Join us in this struggle for a peaceful, prosperous, united country called Kenya,” he urged.

The president also congratulated peace ambassadors especially in the Church and encouraged them to, “keep up the good work”.

“Where people sow hate, you shall sow love, where people sow division, you sow unity, because that at the end of the day is what shall ensure we take our country forward,” he told them.

The inauguration of the new parish was graced by President Kenyatta, Deputy President William Ruto and a score other politicians.
