NAIROBI, JUNE 16, 2023 (CISA)- The Archbishop of Nairobi, Most Rev Philip Anyolo has opened and blessed a Chapel dedicated to Sr Anna Ali of the Most Holy Eucharist at Our Lady of Peace Primary School in Karen, Nairobi.

The event held on June 15, 2023, brought together friends of Sr Anna Ali including sisters from various religious congregations, a few priests and Sr Anna Ali’s family.

Sr Anna Ali, a stigmatic, died on June 6, 2012, at the age of 47.  She was buried on June 16, 2012, at St Patrick’s Catholic Parish, Burnt Forest, in the Catholic Diocese of Eldoret.

Sr Anna is remembered for her visions of Jesus and for shedding tears of blood.  She took the first photo of Jesus during a personal visit to her in 1987 and in 1988 she took another photo of Jesus on the feast of Corpus Christi, on this particular photo, Jesus is seen shedding tears of blood and it is on this same day, Wednesday midnight that Sr Anna started shedding tears of blood, which continued every midnight of every Wednesday all through to the whole of Thursday for 25 years until she passed on.

“There is a lot to say, but we want to think about the Eucharist which we are celebrating in the Mass today in the body and blood of Christ – Corpus Christi.  This Corpus Christi is what Sr Anna Ali, let her soul rest in peace, concentrated on in her life.  She spent the highest number of her hours in her life around the Corpus Christi. I am sure you agree with me if you knew her very well.  This is what we are celebrating today maybe to animate us, to teach us, to enkindle in us that spirit of loving that last commandment and invitation which Jesus Christ himself told us, do this in memory of me,” said Archbishop Anyolo in his homily.

Sr Anna published two books about her visions; “Divine Appeal,” two volumes and “My Silver Jubilee”

Sr Anna Ali originally belonged to the Congregation of the Pious Union of Jesus the Good Shepherd before becoming a hermit under the care and spiritual guidance of the late Rt Rev Cornelius Korir the then bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Eldoret.  The Catholic Diocese of Eldoret has begun a journey towards her sainthood.
