SOUTH SUDAN: Promote Unity in Honour of Bishop Deng, Bishop Eduardo Urges

WAU MARCH 28, 2017 (CISA)-The President of Sudan Catholic Bishops Conference (SCBC), Bishop Barani Eduardo Hiiboro, has urged catholic faithful to promote unity in honour of the late Bishop Rudolf Deng Majak.

“Promote unity, love and take care of one another to honour Bishop Rudolf Deng Majak. Bringing peace to Wau and the whole Greater Bahr El Ghaza region will be a respect to our late bishop,” the bishop said March 24 during the burial of Bishop Majak, fromely of the Catholic Diocese of Wau.

The bishop challenged the faithful to respect life and resolve issues arising in Wau for the region to start testing the fruits of peace,Catholic Radio Network reported.

“Stop killing one another and resolve the problem of Wau so that the region lives in peace. Bring peace so that Internally Displaced Persons taking refuge in the churches and NGOs compounds return to their homes,” he added.

He expressed concern that that South Sudanese are being insulted in all parts of the world because of the ongoing, “senseless war”

Wau Diocesan Administrator Fr Marko Mungu said the memories of the late Bishop Rudolf Deng Majak would live on and expressed optimism that the death of the bishop will inspire unity and lasting peace to Wau and the whole country at large.

Bishop Deng died March 6 in Germany where he had gone for further treatment after long illness. He was buried in Wau at St Mary Cathedral, next to the late Bishop Joseph Nyikindi.
