VATICAN CITY, OCTOBER 2, 2018 (CISA)- Cardinal John Njue of the Archdiocese of Nairobi, Cardinal Berhaneyesus Souraphiel, of Addis Ababa, Archbishop Tarcisius Ziyaye of Lilongwe, and Archbishop Anthony Muheria of Nyeri, are among delegates from AMECEA region expected at the Synod of Bishops on young people, faith and vocational discernment.
They will be among over 300 delegates made up of cardinals, archbishops, bishops, priests, sisters and laypeople from all over the world expected at the Vatican from October 3 to 28.
“A survey we have carried out in the AMECEA region and beyond in Africa has shown that our young people are no longer comfortable in small Christian communities run by adult Catholics…They are today calling for the formation of their own communities, said Fr Joseph Healey, a facilitator at AMECEA’s preparatory meeting on the synod that took place September 4 to 7 in Nairobi.
“The meeting also addressed uncertainty, hope, fear and unemployment, enjoyment of the liturgy and the vocational status of single persons with no particular consecration.
