SEKONDI, DECEMBER 4, 2018 (CISA) – Bishop John Bonaventure Kwofie, has called on Ghanaians to enter into the year 2019 with a heart of forgiveness, liberation emancipation, redemption, mercy, and restoration.
“As the body of Christ, it behooves the Christian community to leave their wrong doings and shortcomings of the past behind and forge ahead in a unified and renewed spirit to experience the presence of God in their lives,” he said.
The bishop of the Catholic diocese of Sekondi –Takoradi, was delivering his homily on December 2, the first Sunday of Advent, at St. Pauls’s pro-cathedral in Sekondi during the launch of the Golden Jubilee of the Diocese, which is set to climax in 2019.
He further urged the congregation to maintain holiness, and stay vigilant, prepared for the second coming of Jesus Christ.
“God is holy and anything that communicates with him must be holy,” he stated.
Bishop Kwofie acknowledged the outstanding work that was done by his predecessors in the building of Sekondi- Takoradi diocese, specifically in Education, Health, and Social Relief Services.
He hoewever pointed out the need for more health facilities in the diocese and outlined the vision to have at least a clinic in every parish, and revamp the existing health facilities so as to improve the delivery of health services across the diocese.
He urged faithful and clergy of the diocese to prepare well and celebrate the golden jubilee, and use the opportunity to deepen their evangelical mission and endeavor to win more souls to the Lord.
The golden jubilee launch brought together clergy and faithful from across Sekondi-Takoradi diocese.
A 26-member committee was appointed and charged with the mandate to plan and ensure successful running of the celebrations.
The celebrations will run under the theme; Arise Catholic faithful, let us build together.
