JUBA, NOVEMBER 1, 2019 (CISA)-The Catholic Archdiocese of Juba, on November 1 concluded a year-long centenary celebrations at All saint’s parish-Rejaf East, Juba under the theme “Renewing our faith, responding to its challenges.”
The centenary celebration, attended by hundreds of faithful, religious and clergy marks the peak of the celebrations that were launched in November 2018.
The main celebrant, Gabriel Cardinal Zubir Wako, emeritus of the Archdiocese of Khartoum, told the faithful that the centenary is worth celebrating with joy despite the difficult times that people of South Sudan are going experiencing, reported the Catholic Radio Network.
“It’s worth celebrating the 100 years with joy; it’s a way of telling ourselves we are not going to allow ourselves to be defeated. Jesus has taken our weakness as a step to make us victorious with him. I’m calling all of you to take up this challenge,” he said.
Delegates from the Catholic Church within South Sudan, Sudan, Uganda and the Vatican were also in attendance. President Salva Kiir, Vice President Dr. James Wani and a score of other senior government officials are among the people who attended the celebrations in Rajaf East.
