NAIROBI, SEPTEMBER 18, 2020 (CISA)– The Consolata Institute of Philosophy has today September 18 held its 46th Graduation Ceremony virtually.
“This day brings an extensive grin to your faces from wherever you are livestreaming us, indeed it is an inordinate bliss in our hearts too,” Rev Fr. Dr James Kabata the rector of Consolata Institute of Philosophy said in his address.
Fr Kabata noted that even though the Coronavirus pandemic has been a threat to human beings, it is a blessing and an opportunity to exercise rational component of, “…our being in offering solutions to this global problem.”
He asked graduands to use the diploma earned to help address current problems in the society, “…the most recent one, the Covid-19 challenges, and many other ills in society, with the idea of being a part of the solution,” Fr Kabata said.
“We strongly believe that the philosophical formation that you have undergone in our institute has equipped you with speculative, critical and contemplative tools that enables you to be part of the solution making,” he said, asking the graduands to be good ambassadors of values and virtues that uphold a just and harmonious society.
In his address Fr Peter Makau, the Regional Superior of the Consolata Missionaries Kenya/Uganda and the Chancellor of the Consolata Institute of Philosophy termed the graduation as a, “New beginning where what you have learnt will be seen in praxis in real daily life confrontation with the world.”
He praised the institution for continuously offering holistic formation that has earned it impeccable reputation all over the world.
He noted that through the training offered to students at the institution, “The minds of young students are challenged and hence awakened from the long slumber of ignorance enabling them to question themselves critically through a constant dialogue with great thinkers and philosophers over the ages.”
Fr Makau acknowledged the collaboration with the Catholic University of Eastern Africa, and the Pontifical Urbaniana University in Rome for their continuous support which has resulted to the growth of the Institution.
The graduation ceremony that was attended by Archbishop Hubertus van Megen, the Apostolic Nuncio of Kenya and South Sudan saw 105 graduands get diplomas in Philosophy and Religious studies.
