ABUJA, NOVEMBER 3, 2023 (CISA)-A catholic priest in the Catholic Archdiocese of Abuja is reported to have been missing for over a month.

According to a memo signed by Fr Sam Tumba, the Chancellor for the archdiocese, Fr Samson Emokhidi has been missing since Sunday, October 1 at about 8:45 pm and has remained untraceable ever since.

“He left without any trace and has not been seen or heard from since then. The matter has been reported to the civil authorities who have since commenced investigations,” reads the memo shared on October 30.

In the memo, Archbishop Ignatius Kaigama of Abuja and his auxiliary Bishop Anselm Umoren called on the faithful to remember him in prayers and for whoever has useful information on his whereabouts to contact the chancery.

The disappearance of Fr Emokhidi comes on the backdrop of increasing cases of kidnappings targeting priests and religious men and women purportedly for ransom in the West African country.
