KENYA: Bishop Obanyi Urges Catholic Media to Keep Pope Francis Message Alive

KAKAMEGA MARCH 15, 2016 (CISA) – Bishop Joseph Obanyi the Chairman of the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB) – Commission for Social Communications/Waumini communications has urged the Catholic Media to continue spreading the messages of Pope Francis to Kenya and to communicate on the impact of the Pope’s message since his visit last November.

“Are the people becoming more aware and talking boldly about issues like corruption?” he posed. The bishop of the Catholic diocese of Kakamega was addressing Diocesan communication coordinators, Radio Managers and Publication editors who had a meeting, March 7 – 11, in Kakamega.

The Bishop reminded the communicators that they have a very important responsibility to boldly talk about issues affecting the country echoing the words of the Holy Father on his call to the consecrated life “wake up to wake up the world”.

The Bishop called on the Catholic Media to be particularly more proactive as the political temperatures rise towards the general elections slotted for August 8, 2017, adding that the Catholic media should journey with the secular media in ensuring that both religious and political leaders maintains peace and tranquility.

“Be ahead of situations that may arise whether positive or negative and counter the bad with good,” he said.
