KISUMU, AUGUST 17, 2021 (CISA)-“Avoid serenity towards the rich and forgetting the poor, instead handle the people of God equally with honor,” Most Rev. Philip Anyolo the Archbishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Kisumu urged newly ordained priests.
The archbishop made the sentiments in his homily of August 12, during the ordination of five priests and two deacons at the Consolata Shrine in Buoye, Kisumu.
“Priesthood is for the service of the people of God. Avoid preaching so that you may please people, tell them the word of God… You must be courageous to teach, rebuke and admonish error. Teach and admonish one another in all wisdom and with gratitude in your heart sing Psalms as you pray together in community with people of God,” the archbishop added.
The newly ordained included Frs Francis Otieno, Julius Oduor and Romanus Shiveka for the Consolata Missionaries; Fabian Wasonga and Joseph Ambongo for the Missionaries of St. Francis de Sales. The event also saw the ordination of deacons Jean Marie Bakonda for the Consolata Missionaries and Dennis Owino for the Catholic Archdiocese of Kisumu.
